Great Eagle Feather
The Great Eagle Feather Award Program
The parent / child program strongly promotes recognition of shared accomplishments between parent and child, both within the defined deeds / tasks of the program, and those accomplishments outside of the defined program guidelines. An optional awards patch can be purchased at YMCA from the Program Director. This patch is available to recognize the parent / child accomplishments. This patch which has a base Eagle and (17) feathers to be added individually as tasks are accomplished can be displayed as part of the child’s (or parent’s) vest or can be used to make a display in the home, or other as each parent / child desires. Although there are no set rules for this patch, each Tribe Chief is strongly encouraged to award the individual supplemental feathers when tasks or duties consistent with program guidelines are accomplished. These duties can be defined by each individual family, developed and agreed to by tribal members, or use one or a combination of the recommended options below.
