Update!

I am writing this late evening on the 12th on November after the Fall “into the pool” Camp at the Miller Y. Unfortunately we cancelled Fall Camp due to the weather but all the tribes rallied and held great events in lieu of campout. Tribes went bowling, hiking, go cart racing, camping in Carpinteria, ice-skating and one tribe had a sleep over. What a nice recovery from an unfortunate circumstance. By the way, it did rain all night Friday night.

Update!

We golfed. We drove. We played.
Fun was in the cards and Dad’s and Kid’s at Golf-N-Stuff. For those dads brave enough to challenge others on the track, the kids were entertained by the kid coming out in all of us when we bumped and sped our way through a little competition. Golf was competitive for some who kept score and a challenge for others who kept losing golf balls (some of the kids lost golf balls too).  The kids definitely got the better of the Dad’s on the water in the bumper boats.  The dads couldn’t handle the spinning and were constantly barraged by incoming boats at “ramming speed”.  The bumper cars were likely a vision into the future of how our Y-Indians will drive.  The dad’s, on the other hand, were very careful not to run into anyone…yeah right. Once again, the cars brought out the kid in everyone.  All in all, a great time was in store for those who donned their vests and showed their Y-Indian pride at Golf-N-Stuff. Thanks Jennifer (Y-Indian Agent) for sitting out in the hot sun to pass out wristbands and tickets.

Coastal Clean Up Day

Update!

Aho Y-Indians,

I’d like to send a shout out to all the families that came out to coastal cleanup day last Saturday. We were part of a larger California event that brought together more than 11,000 volunteers statewide, who picked up over 22 tons of trash, bringing sustenance to the coastal wildlife that rely on a clean living environment and food supply to survive. At Leo Carillo state beach alone, we cleaned up over 3 miles of coastline with 183 volunteers. The families of the Wilicota Federation helped to pick up 228 lbs of trash, and 137 lbs of recycling…all in a sunny morning’s work, while having fun in the waves at the same time. Many of us will, no doubt, return to Leo Carillo throughout the year to enjoy it’s clean beaches and amazing tide pools.

Update!

Aho Y-Indians,

That was an awesome event, the little indians had a blast playing soccer, shooting arrows, swimming and scaling the climbing wall! Lots of new faces in the crowd too.

We handed out 125 patches for the event, so be sure to invite your Buddy to the Rain Gutter Regatta on Sept. 25th and sign them up.
